Packing Your Bags

Suitable clothing according to the weather: As our location experiences all four seasons, it's essential to bring appropriate attire to stay comfortable throughout your stay depending when you come. Please check the seasonal weather forecast for Rishikesh.

In the ashram, we cherish simplicity, and our dress code consists of t-shirts or, optionally, sleeveless tops (please note that strappy tops and shorts are not allowed).

We do not have any dress code as such. It's just that anything you wear should be comfortable and decent. No ripped shorts or no t-shirts with indecent slogans or anything controversial printed.

What you should carry:

Below is the recommended list of items and not the final list. Please decide based on your needs:

  • A pair of thongs or any slip-on footwear that you can put on with or without socks - we enter our yoga hall and kitchen/dining room with no footwear....socks are fine. So you will have to take off your shoes 10-12 times a day. Hence thongs or open sandals are convenient.
  • Personal hygiene essentials: Bring your standard toiletry bag, including shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene and other necessities.
  • Medication and optional comfort items: Carry any medications you require during travel.
  • Heat rubs and pads can be beneficial during colder months for muscle pain relief and comfort during asana practice.
  • A water bottle that you will carry with you on campus. Thermos bottle is preferred so you
  • can carry warm water, if you prefer to normally drink water at room temp or slightly warm.
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Clothes for yoga practice as well as outside classes, whatever you prefer during your stay and according to the weather. Simple white clothes or any light colour clothing for ceremonies, rituals, satsang, or special programs. (clothing guidelines below)
  • A pair of comfortable walking shoes
  • Plug adaptor for the “Type C” plug
  • Additionally, consider bringing one jumper and a light scarf to cover yourself in the evenings.

What we will provide:

  • Everything required for yoga asana practice - Yoga mat, blocks, bolsters, straps and perfect ambience.
  • Linens - bed sheet, pillow cases, bed covers, quilts, towels. We replace them weekly.
  • Stationery - notebook, pen, folder, a tote bag, jalneti pot (nasal cleansing pot) plus some more
  • 3 vegetarian meals
  • Lastly, bring an abundance of enthusiasm, and positivity as we embark on this transformative journey together!

Room Cleaning :

Cleaning is done with mindfulness and simplicity, happening once a week. We believe in fostering a sense of self-responsibility, so you'll find cleaning gadgets and products thoughtfully placed in your room, allowing you to create a serene space as you desire.

We change towels, bedsheets, and linens weekly, reducing our impact on Mother Earth.

Our intention is to create a harmonious and tranquil environment for your spiritual journey, where you can connect deeply with your inner self. Embrace this mindful way of living as you embark on your transformative experience with us.

Laundry :

In the spirit of self-sufficiency and mindfulness, we encourage all students to take care of their own laundry. This practice aligns with the essence of simplicity we value. To make your journey lighter, consider packing weather-appropriate clothing that dries fast. We understand that there might be valid reasons preventing you from doing your laundry. In such cases, feel free to approach our reception for laundry service, available at a reasonable cost per piece.

We encourage you to manage your own laundry whenever possible, reserving the use of our laundry service for essential situations. Our laundry facilities at the ashram are not designed as professional laundry centers; therefore, we appreciate your understanding that the services provided mirror what you might encounter at home. Please note that we don't handle undergarments, shoes, heavy winter jackets, or denim items in our laundry service. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this journey of mindful living.
